WEM strengthens partnership to act in the United States market

In 2012, WEM Equipamentos consolidated a partnership in the United States to amplify the marketing of its products in the demanding American market. The company of Ribeirão Preto has signed contracts with US Medical Innovations, LLC, subsidiary of US Patent Innovations, LLC, for the development, distribution and manufacturing of electrosurgical plasma generators, coagulators, USMI accessories and related products for use in surgeries and endoscopies.
The negotiations started in 2009 and in the end of the last year, WEM’s equipment had obtained FDA license to be marketed in the United States under the brand of US Medical Innovations, LLC. One of the highlights of the partnership is the sale of Canady Vieira Hybrid Plasma Scalpel, a multifunctional pencil with an innovative design that reduces the operation time, blood transfusions and the need for medications.
In tests recently conducted at Providence Hospital, in Washington, the use of the multifunctional pencil was approved due to its high performance. “It is one of the best inventions I have ever seen or used in surgeries during my 40 years in this career”, states Surgical Oncologist Robert L. DeWitty Jr., M.D. In Brazil, the product is under approval from Anvisa [National Health Surveillance Agency] and it shall soon be marketed on the national market.
Edson Vieira, director of WEM Equipamentos, explains that the good acceptance in the American market shows that the company will significantly grow in that market. “We are investing with our partner and we are already sending to the United States, in addition to the Canady Vieira Hybrid Plasma Scalpel pencil, the Electrosurgical System for endoscopic surgery SS-200E + Argon 2 and the Electrosurgical System for high complexities surgeries SS-601 MCA + Argon 4”, he explains.
